Mission and Principles
The Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator partners with countries to expedite progress toward self-sustaining, strong health systems.
To achieve this goal, we work with key actors from across sectors – government officials, community leaders and local and regional technical organizations – to advance their understanding of the most pressing health systems issues, identify their root causes and draw from global and regional experience to co-create innovative solutions that suit the local context. The program’s approach supports local partners as they lead implementation and find their own pathways to meaningful and lasting health systems change.
The Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator follows these 4 principles:
- Ensure that priorities are set by local change agents and work through institutionalized country-led processes
- Coach rather than do, to support local teams to select, design and implement contextually appropriate solutions
- Co-create and innovate, based on evidence and learning drawn from across multiple geographies
- Support adaptive learning, with rapid experimentation where needed and timely feedback loops
