Rehabilitation and assistive technology are crucial for optimizing the functioning, health, and well-being of persons with health conditions and are an integral part of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
However, coverage of rehabilitation services and assistive technology is highly variable or absent, particularly in low and middle-income countries. As a result, they often represent a significant out-of-pocket expense, unaffordable for most of the world’s population.
In the lead-up to the United Nations High-Level Meeting on UHC, which will mark the adoption of a new Political Declaration, the global webinar will make a case for the effective integration of rehabilitation and assistive technology in UHC policies and mechanisms.
The panel discussion will leverage the voices and stands of rehabilitation and assistive technology stakeholders in the broader UHC-related debates and highlight examples of these efforts. Panelists will include governmental, WHO, and civil society representatives.
This global webinar is co-organized by the Learning, Acting & Building for Rehabilitation in Health Systems (ReLAB-HS), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in partnership with: the Civil Society Engagement Mechanism for UHC2030, the Global Health Council, and Results for Development.
