The Ministry of Health, Ghana, has officially announced the launch of a National Health Database and a digitized health facility platform, marking two critical strides in improving data accessibility across the country’s healthcare system.
This milestone was achieved with the support of the R4D-led Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator, which played a pivotal role in the development and implementation of the database. The initiative was unveiled during an event that also marked the conclusion of the Accelerator’s six-year project. Government officials highlighted the importance of the Accelerator’s contribution, acknowledging it as instrumental in advancing Ghana’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) ambitions. The Accelerator’s innovative Networks of Practice model was particularly praised for fostering collaboration across sectors.
The Accelerator program, supported by USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has been instrumental in making significant progress toward expanding primary healthcare in Ghana. We are proud to have worked closely with Ghana’s Ministry of Health and other global partners to drive these impactful changes. As R4D Senior Program Director Dr. Linda A. Vanotoo emphasized that ongoing collaboration and effective use of digital tools and platforms will be crucial to ensuring long-term success.
