The Primary Care Provider Network (PCPN) design—now called the Network of Practice (NoP)—aims to address systemic challenges hindering equitable delivery of healthcare services and to build a long-term PHC model for UHC in Ghana.
Last week, the Ghana Health Service, as part of its 2024 Senior Managers Meeting Prime and its efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage, unveiled the Implementation Guidelines for the Networks of Practice (NoP). The guideline provides all health sector stakeholders a step-by-step process for the operationalization of the NoP by enhancing the capacity of the operational levels to understand and effectively apply the core principles of the NoP initiative for timely access to quality essential services towards the achievement of UHC.
On launching the Guidelines, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Director-General of the Service, emphasized the importance of supporting the implementation of the NoP initiative and called upon health managers, staff, and relevant stakeholders within the Ghana Health Service and other agencies to rally behind this initiative, as it aims to foster better collaboration and strengthen the health system as a whole.
For the past five years, the Accelerator led by Results for Development has partnered with the Ghana Health Service to design and implement the Network of Practice (NoP), which aims to address systemic challenges hindering equitable delivery of healthcare services and to build a long-term PHC model for UHC in Ghana.
